God is Love: Allow Him to Flow Freely through you.

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

The type of Love mentioned in the Bible is not the same love we feel for our parents, siblings, children, or the rest of our family. Nor is it the kind of love we have for our friends. A shared love of each other's company, and all the things we have in common. And no, it is not even the type of love shared between spouses, that "Groovy Kind of Love" that Phil Collins sung about in the eighties. It is much greater than all of these!

Although most of us can't imagine there being a higher love than those mentioned above, none of them even come close in comparison with the Love that God had the Apostle Paul define for us in First Corinthians, Chapter thirteen. The kind of Love Paul described is given to us unconditionally. We cannot earn it, we do not deserve it, and we will never deserve it! Therefore, it is called Charity in the King James Version of the Holy Bible. This kind of Love, is God Himself!

"Whoever does not love, does not know God, because God is love."

1 John 4:8 (NIV)

Even though this Love is given to us freely by the Grace of God, we must still accept it. Just like if someone gave us a new car, we would still have a choice to accept it, or not! Meaning, if we decide to accept the car, we must first accept the keys. In a comparable way, if we want to receive the highest kind of Love, God Himself! We must first accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior!

Once we do, God can flow freely in us and through us, right into the lives of others! God will flow differently through each one of us. And the result of His flow, is based off our unique personalities, talents, and gifts. Giving us all a purpose, only we can fulfill. Oh…what an Awesome God we Serve!

At the end of this chapter, we will look at Apostle Paul's description of what Love is. If the things Paul describes is what you are experiencing in life right now, God’s Love is flowing through you uninhibited. Congratulations, you are living life to its fullest! If you are not experiencing these things, there must be an obstruction making you unable to experience God's Love right now, and all the other wonderful things He has planned for you.

No need to worry though. Just continue to surrender yourself to God’s Will, and the obstruction will soon be removed. Allowing God’s Love to flow freely through you again. And when God’s Love is flowing freely through us, we are releasing God’s Glory into the world all around us. Praise God!

I would like to finish this message with an exercise. Please take the time to read each line provided, and then answer it by mentally giving yourself a check mark, if you are experiencing this in your life right now, or an X if you are not experiencing this in your life right now. Then continue doing this on a weekly basis, until you are completely surrendered to God! Please remember, do not try to become these things through your own effort, because you will never succeed. Just let go and allow God to be all these things through you!
