Fuzzy Worms: The Fall of the Beautiful Butterflies

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

In the beginning Adam and Eve were created in the image God. And for the sake of this story, let us pretend God was a Big Beautiful Butterfly. And since Adam and Eve were made in His image, they too were beautiful butterflies. Each of them reflecting their Father’s Glory in the purest way. One day God gave them some ground rules to live by. There was a whole lot of do’s, with only one don’t. Don’t eat of the nectar from the tree in the middle of the garden!

This will be easy they thought to themselves. There is only one thing to reframe from doing and we can live in this wonderful paradise forever. Giving us complete and total access to our Heavenly Father. Wow they thought to themselves, life doesn’t get any better than this!

Then one day the lord of the worms, better known as Satan, paid Eve a visit in the garden. Convincing her that life can get better than this. Telling her that by eating from the tree in the middle of the garden, she would become like God. All Knowing and All Powerful.

And with just a little more coaxing, Eve ignored the warning of God and fluttered over to the tree in the middle of the garden, and took a sip! Once Adam saw this, he also fluttered over to the tree and took a sip. Although Adam was not deceived, he figured if Eve was going to become a worm, so would he.

The next day when God came to visit Adam and Eve in the Garden. He could not find them at first, because they were hiding. They were afraid, because ever since they disobeyed God, they were no longer beautiful butterflies...but were now fuzzy little worms! Giving God no choice but to banish them from the garden. Because after all, this was a butterfly garden, not a fuzzy little worm garden! God then had a huge Butterfly Angel come and guard the Tree of Life, so that Adam, Eve, and all their future decedents could not eat from it again!

Shortly after Adam and Eve left the Garden, they began to multiply. Eventually, the earth was filled with lots of fuzzy little worms, instead of beautiful butterflies as it was intended to be. Thankfully, the Big Butterfly in the sky already knew they would disobey, and had a backup plan in place for when they did.

Because God has Eternal Eyesight, seeing everything from beginning to end. Knowing everything that will ever happen for all eternity. Meaning, God already knew before He created this temporary world that Adam and Eve would disobey Him. Causing them, and all their descendants to become fuzzy little worms.

Yes...all of us!

But here’s the Good News. There is a backup plan that allows any fuzzy little worm that so desires to be reborn as a child of the Big Butterfly in the sky. And we do this by receiving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

We can then live out the rest of our earthly life as a Beautiful Butterfly in worm disguise. Patiently waiting for the day we leave this cocoon behind and spread our wings far and wide, landing in the most beautiful Butterfly Garden ever to be, and staying there for eternity!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16 (KJV)

Thanks for reading today, and may God Bless you all.
