Double-Edged Sword: How to Have a Change of Heart

In this lesson I will be sharing an interesting teaching on a scripture that is ordinary taught in a more common way.

As you may already know, Hebrews 4:12 is commonly taught as the Word of God being so sharp that it slices our inner being completely open, exposing us for all to see. Leaving nothing hidden, including the thoughts and intents of our heart.

While I totally agree with this teaching, the Lord has given me a somewhat deeper lesson to teach on this same scripture today.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

God has showed me through the scripture above, that our spiritual heart is the exact meeting point of our spirit and soul. Meaning it would also be the exact dividing point for them as well.

Our spirit is our consciousness of God, and is the place God abides within us after we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior!

While our soul is our self-consciousness, the part of us we usually refer to our as me or I.

God created us in His own image, so all of us humans have the free will to make our own choices. And one of these choices is how we will live our life.

There is basically four ways we can choose to live our earthly life. One, we can live by instinct as animals do. Two, we can live by our own thoughts and ways. Three, we can live by the thoughts and ways of those in the world around us. Or four, we can live by God’s Thoughts and Ways.

However, in order to live by God’s thoughts and Ways we must first receive God’s Holy Spirit into our spirit, by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. And second, we must submit to His thoughts and ways, which is also know as the Truth.

The best way to familiarize yourself with God’s Thoughts and Ways, is by reading and meditating on His Word in the Holy Bible. Doesn't it just make sense to fill our Heart with the Word of God!

Allowing us to use God's Word as a double-edged sword to divide the fat of our thoughts and ways (soul) away from the prime beef of God's Thoughts and Ways (Spirit).

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."

Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)

This is important to know, because our soul will just express whatever is in our spiritual heart. Meaning, if our spiritual heart is filled with God’s Truth, our soul will express this Truth. Allowing us to live a life of total freedom!

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

John 8:32(KJV)

As you can see, this teaching is more on the function of our inner man, and less on anatomy. Hopefully, making it very clear that the Word of God truly is sharper than any Double-edged Sword. Piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul (our thoughts and ways) and Spirit (God’s thoughts and ways).

So, if you haven’t done so already, start living by the Spirit today, by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)

Then surrender your Heart to Him. Which will allow the Holy Spirit to begin filling us with God’s Thoughts and Ways. And as we begin to live by His thoughts and ways, we will be made Free Indeed, for Eternity.

May God Bless you all,
